Caloric components are calculated by two ways:

1.Calculate by grams:

a. Enter the carbohydrate component using the glucose infusion rate (GIR) in milligrams per kilogram per minute.

b.Enter the protein component in grams per kilogram per day.

c. Enter the lipid component in grams per kilogram per day.

2.Calculate by caloric percentages:

a. Enter the total caloric intake per kilogram per day.

b. Enter the caloric percentage of each caloric component (carbohydrates, proteins, and lipids).

Total fluid volume is calculated by three ways:

1.Neonatal age group: enter the needed fluid volume per kilogram per day.

2.Pediatric age group: enter the maintenance fluid percentage which needed according to the clinical situation. Maintenance fluid per day will be calculated automatically according to the patient’s weight. For the first 10 kilograms 100 ml fluid per kilogram will be calculated, second 10 kilograms 50 ml fluid per kilogram will be calculated , and above 20 kilograms 20 ml fluid per kilogram will be calculated.

3.Editable fluids: just enter the total fluid volume per day.

Electrolytes could be added according to the clinical situation per kilogram. You can edit your fluid contents according to the available IV drug concentrations. Just enter your solution concentration per ml and the needed dose per kilogram and the program will do the rest.

Some products in the market contain multiple electrolyte components as glycophos (each 1ml contain 1 mEq of phosphate and 2 mEq of sodium), amount of Na will be subtracted automatically from the saline component.

Additional fluids which used for drug infusion or any other purpose (normal saline, sodium chloride 3%, dextrose 5%, and dextrose 10%) will be subtracted automatically from the total volume and total concentration of each component.
